Project Officer

VIKSAT was established in 1977, as an institution of the NFD, Ahmedabad. VIKSAT, engaged in the promotion of participatory management of natural resources, believes that goal of sustainability in natural resources development and management can be achieved through decisive participation of the local communities aided by the enabling role of the Government agencies. VIKSAT is implementing sustainable Natural Resource Management (NRM) and livelihood activities currently through its four field offices in five districts of Gujarat. VIKSAT is looking for a young and dynamic Project Officer who will be responsible for the promotion and strengthening of the people institutions in the project areas of Gujarat.

Job Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Education: A postgraduate degree in M.Sc./ MRS/MSW/MBA in Rural Management/Agriculture/ Horticulture or a closely related field. 

Professional Experience: A minimum of 3-4 years of professional work experience in agriculture, animal husbandry, promoting people’s institutions, and establishing linkages with government departments and CSR.

Adaptability: Willingness to work in challenging conditions in 10-15 villages, demonstrating a strong commitment to the quality of work.

Transportation: Proficiency in operating two-wheeler vehicles.

Technical Skills: Comfortable with computer applications and proficient in using the internet.

Language Proficiency: Must possess proficiency in English, with Gujarati and Hindi language skills being essential.

Job Description: 

•    Oversee Field office and Project activities at the VIKSAT field office as well as the Head office, ensuring the effectiveness of assigned projects and programs.

•    Coordinate and liaise with Funding agencies, Government Departments, and Field Offices, and work on the integration with Field Offices.

•    Capability of budgeting, writing reports, correspondence, and communicating effectively in the English language. 

•    Plan, design, and formulate project proposals in line with the guidelines of the funding agency, conduct feasibility studies, surveys, and design and estimation of development activities.

•    Manage the quotation process for material purchases according to the purchase procedure, under the guidance of the Field Coordinator and Programme Coordinator. Conduct monthly review meetings with field staff and nurture community-based institutes for services, scale-up, and sustainability.

•    Provide technical support to Panchayat Raj institutions (PRI), Government Departments, and Beneficiaries, and conduct training for good governance. Take leadership of field staff and CRP, VO/CLF, and FPO leaders as per project requirements, ensuring continuous improvement.

Salary: The selected candidate will receive a monthly consolidated salary ranging from 25,000 to 35,000, based on qualifications and relevant experience, while also considering equity within the organization. The initial appointment 

will be for a fixed term of one year, with potential for extension based on performance. The position involves fieldwork and travel, and candidates should be prepared to travel as needed.
