Education Qualification: A bachelor's degree along with three years of relevant work experience in APMC, procurement, seed production through contract farming, or a related field. 

Responsibilities

  • Regularly visit farms and farmers to establish and maintain relationships.
  • Develop and implement strategies to procure agricultural produce (e.g., pulses, spices, groundnut, vegetable, wheat, maize, cotton, castor, seed production etc.) at competitive prices.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of farm produce for quality, ensuring that they meet required standards.
  • Oversee the sorting and grading of agricultural products based on quality specifications.
  • Work closely with the FPO Manager to ensure that all procured produce meets safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain stock and coordinate with the FPO Manager to ensure adequate storage of procured produce.
  • Implement and maintain proper storage practices to minimize spoilage and waste.
  • Manage the movement of goods from farms to warehouses and processing plants.
  • Provide regular updates to the FPO Manager regarding procurement activities, inventory levels, and any challenges faced in the supply chain.

  • Monitor procurement expenses and ensure that purchasing is within budgetary guidelines.
  • Continuously seek cost-effective procurement solutions without compromising product quality.

•    Oversee Field office and Project activities at the VIKSAT field office as well as the Head office, ensuring the effectiveness of assigned projects and programs.

•    Coordinate and liaise with Funding agencies, Government Departments, and Field Offices, and work on the integration with Field Offices.

•    Capability of budgeting, writing reports, correspondence, and communicating effectively in the English language. 

•    Plan, design, and formulate project proposals in line with the guidelines of the funding agency, conduct feasibility studies, surveys, and design and estimation of development activities.

•    Manage the quotation process for material purchases according to the purchase procedure, under the guidance of the Field Coordinator and Programme Coordinator. Conduct monthly review meetings with field staff and nurture community-based institutes for services, scale-up, and sustainability.

•    Provide technical support to Panchayat Raj institutions (PRI), Government Departments, and Beneficiaries, and conduct training for good governance. Take leadership of field staff and CRP, VO/CLF, and FPO leaders as per project requirements, ensuring continuous improvement.

Work Profile

It is a middle management level position in the organization and the person will be required to be a part of team as well as independently handle responsibilities, which include: 

  1. Support implementation, coordination of projects and programmes
  2. planning, budgeting, project development, writing proposals 
  3. Process documentation including progress reports, case studies, presentations, 
  4. Provide support to the field teams, partners and people’s institutions (FPOs, SHGs)
  5. Handholding of the FPOs, SHGs with business plans, technical & marketing support 
  6. Liaison and networking with partner organisations, Govt. departments, local authorities, NGOs, development organizations, funding agencies
  7. Development of communication & training material; conduct training programmes
  8. Develop and maintain databases, documentation
  9. Represent the organization in various meetings, workshops, networks

Qualification & Experience

Post Graduate with first class or equivalent preferably in Agriculture, Horticulture, rural management, social work, rural studies, social sciences, development studies or related field. Preferably ten years’ post qualification relevant work experience. Should have sound understanding of environment & developmental issues, especially in the context of Gujarat. Experience of project management and coordination; good interpersonal and management skills required. Relevant experience in the NGO/development sector, especially in the field of sustainable development, NRM, livelihoods, water & sanitation, biodiversity conservation, climate change, capacity building, people’s institutions, FPOs, SHGs, etc. preferred. Comfort with computer applications and internet a must. Should be willing to work under challenging conditions and have a strong commitment to quality. Fluency in English and Gujarati is essential. Work and travel.

  • This position is located at the VIKSAT Head Office in Ahmedabad. The role involves managing a team and overseeing fieldwork, and candidate must be willing to travel as needed.
  • These are fix term appointments initially for one year, extendable based on performance. 
  • Salary: Consolidated salary in the range of Rs. 35000/- to 45000/- per month, depending on qualification and experience.
